In Nursery, children make progress through participation in a play-based curriculum. The children undertake a range of fun activities, which encourage them to ask questions, work co-operatively, share ideas and take an interest in the world around them.
We aim to promote independence and readiness for their move to Reception class by providing a happy and safe environment that enables children to develop at their own pace. We want children to make progress in their learning and to have lots of fun whilst doing so.

Nursery Provision
At St.Mary's we take children from the age of two until they start school and we offer the free entitlement government funding for 2-3 year olds.
Two Year Old provision
At the moment we have an interest register for our two year olds. If you would like to put your name down please phone the school office on 01736 330005 and let them know. As soon as we have enough children, we will be able to start providing this provision.
Three Year Old provision
Children are entitled to 15 hours of free early education and childcare from the term after their third birthday, up until the start of school. In addition, 30 hours of free provision is available for some families. Please use the link below to check if you qualify.

Three Year old provision
Once your child has turned three, parents can choose between morning or afternoon sessions, or a combination of both with their funded hours. If your child attends the lunch session, you cannot use your funded hours to pay for it. A lunch session costs £4 and includes the cost of a hot school meal.
Parents have the option of increasing the number of hours in which their child attends the Nursery on top of their free funded hours. There is a cost of £5 per additional hour.
As a school we provide wrap around care for our working families. However, at present we are unable to provide this provision for our Nursery aged children. Please let the school know if this is something that you would be interested in, and we can add you to our interest list.
